Amazingly effective tool for cutting through sheet metal, although it won't leave you with smooth cut. Basically it works like a very fast hole punch so you get lots of little semi circles along the path you cut. It is extremely efficient at cutting fast and it is easy to control and change direction while cutting. I found when I went slow I could minimize the rough edges enough to make it fairly easy to clean up with a metal file or pair of snippets.
Damn good tool. I have a $300 Makita electric nibbler and a Chicago pneumatic air nibbler. Their dies and punches don’t last long as one side of this one. They also cost as much as two of these! ( the dies and punches). You get two sides, ability to cut tighter radius’s longer wear, twice the value and better performance! Metal artist for 6 years, working 20 ga sheet metal. All of them that look like this are the same and imported, take your pick! Probably all made in the same factory! Two thumbs up! My plasma torch is lonesome now!
I was skeptical about how well this item was going to work based on what similar models were being sold for on other sites. This is simply a case where "you get what you pay for" is dead wrong. I was absolutely speechless by how easily this tool literally ate it's way through the steel plate I had been grinding away at two days before with the ever trusty 4 1/2 inch grinder with a cut wheel in order to create the design drawn onto the surface. There is a slight learning curve as to which way the tool needs to face in order to fulfill the needs but after about two or three minutes I was happily and quickly on my way. If I had any concerns it is that this thing produces a LOT of curled steel bits that fall away and the cut path is approx 1/8 or 3/16 of an inch wide. Well worth the money spent and at this price you could almost get three for what others are selling one for. AND..you have an extra bit for when the first one ever goes dull. (remember to always use lubricating oil)
As advertised
It took a couple of trys to learn how to use it but it cuts great
Tried it out on our bus Stainless Steel, cut through like butter..
It was my first time using this tool and it works great! I spent a minute teaching myself how to use it and cut a perfect circle first time. Patience is the key.
Really useful and simple tool. I built a jig so I can use it hands-free.
Works better than expected. I use this to cut out shapes in brass sheet for my repair shop needs.
This thing is amazing on HVAC duct work. I can cut out a 20x20 panel on 5 minutes! Just don't tell your boss about it, they will give you all the sheet metal work.
I am doing remodeling at my house and bought this little tool to cut about 10ft of 100 yr old heavy duct work. It worked very well and still looks and cuts like new. I would have probably chosen a professional dedicated tool if I had to use it every day.
